Figure Modelling 23

Welcome to the 23rd issue of “Figure Modelling” in Mr Black Publications Scale Model Handbook series. This is actually the 28th book we've published so far, with 23 of our titles covering figure modelling, two on modelling dioramas and a further three being our popular “Modelling the Second World War” specials.

Seven articles from seven well-known artists, two of them making their first appearance in our editions are featured in this issue, where you'll find lots of tips and techniques about modelling miniature figures, busts, and vignettes from ancient times to the Second World War. Chosen subjects are covered in detail and illustrated with step-by-step photos and explanatory texts.

Man-Jin Kim returns with the 10-page Step by Step & Box Art “Gassed” article. He shows in detail the painting of a WWI Diorama for Box Art using acrylics and enamels.

Christos Katselos is a regular contributor and returns with an awesome four-page article of the well know SS Officer Max W?nsche as appeared at the Kharkov Battle in 1943… Learn how to paint a full figure of a WWII personality in 1:16 Scale using acrylic paints.

Next is an eight-page article Viking Raid by Allan Yong, a well-known artist but this is his first appearance in our editions! Alan shows how to create an Eye-Catching Historical Vignette by improving commercial pieces with some scratch building techniques.

Selu Casanova comes back with the Ardennes Offensive, an impressive 12-page step-by-step article on creating an eye-catching small diorama in winter terrain combining commercial kits, figures, and materials.

Next up is Zacharias Andriopoulos four-page article about a knight in the Holy Land, XII century. He explains how to paint a medieval Knight Templar using acrylics paints and Vallejo Metal Color.

Stelios Neofytidis is another of our regulars and he paints a 75mm World War One British artilleryman using acrylics.

Theo Georgiadis (Phantom Duck) presents a three-page feature about a Greek Freedom fighter of c.1821 where he shows how to paint an interesting historical subject from the Greek Revolution in acrylic colours.

As always, thanks must go to all our contributors for their support and for sharing their secrets with us. Special thanks are due to Pietro Balloni, Luca Marchetti, Alex Vallejo, Darren Parker-Mead, Man-Jin Kim, Alexey Lucanev, Fernando Vallejo, Taesung Harmms, Andrew Cairns, Young B. Song, Dae-Hyeong Kim, Ju Won Jung, Paul Ondeck, Yannis Papadopoulos and last, but not least our English Text Editor Ken Jones.

We hope you enjoy our latest edition!
